Hot Day at the Zoo

So ... yesterday when I watched the weather, I noticed that it was only supposed to be 92* for a high and partly cloudy, so I figured Lydia and I could go to the zoo in the morning and it would be not too bad. Well .. I was WRONG! Turned out that today was the 2nd hottest day of the year with a high of 99* and NO clouds! We survived though and are hoping for some cooler weather soon!

The first thing Lydia wanted to see today was the penguins! She loves watching them!

They might have been the most active animals in the whole zoo today! Of course, they are swimming around in water! So they were probably feeling pretty good!

 Love her eyes in this picture! She wasn't too sure about them swimming around behind her! She was trying to watch them and make sure they didn't come through the glass, I guess!

 After the penguins, we moved on to feed the fish! 

 They are so fun to watch while she is feeding them. She loves watching them jump and "fight" for food!

 Taking a little break in the shade! So thankful for this little bench! We were both ready for some shade and a drink!

 Just like her Uncle Craig ... as soon as we got int he car she wanted her milk and she SUCKED it down! Poor baby was so hot!

We met Jeff for lunch at Chick-Fil-A and then had to run to Target to pick up a few things ... This is how she rode in the cart almost the whole time!

 Glad we did not need much!

This is what happened on the way home ...

I can't tell you the last time she fell asleep in the car. Most of the time she fights it with all that she has! She stayed asleep until I got her almost to her bed, then of course, she woke up. =( Then it took her almost an hour and a half to fall asleep!

She had fun, but we are hoping it will cool down and we can go back and enjoy the zoo a little more! Thankful for our pass so we can go and spend an hour and leave and not feel like we just threw $25 away!
